Emergency Hospitalisation Inform Europ Assist (Assistance and Claims Partner abroad) at the earliest providing details of Insured Traveler and Policy Schedule Number Europ Assist verifies coverage of the Insured Traveler, coordinates with Hospital on the treatment and assesses Admissibility of the Claim Europ Assist coordinates with Tata AIG Claims team and places Guarantee of Payment (GOP) with the hospital for Admissible Expenses - Turnaround Time 4-5 hours Once treatment is completed, Europ Assist will settle payment to Hospital, Insured pays Deductible

It is however important to call the customer support number in the event of a claim. In the event of Outpatient treatment (where hospitalization is not necessary), the insured should keep all the relevant bills and receipts and file the same for reimbursement with Tata AIG, Claims Department.

Some Useful Tips for Quick and Smooth Claims Settlement

Some of the important aspects to be kept in mind while filing a Travel Insurance claim are as follows:

  • Inform / Notify the Assistance Company (Europ Assist) or the Insurance Company (Tata AIG) as soon as the Loss/Incident occurs.
  • For all Hospitalisation Treatment, please keep the Assistance Company (Europ Assist) informed at all times
  • For all expenses incurred, both Medical and Non-medical, please retain all original documents / bills / receipts
  • Fill the online Claims Form in detail, providing all relevant information and submit along with required documents
  • Needless to add, ensure you are filing a claim only for Reasonable and Relevant Expenses incurred

What is the Claim Processing Turn around time?

Each company has a different process for setting claim but Cashless Claim Guarantee takes between 3-4 hours after reporting the claim to Europ Assist/Tata AIG. Reimbursement of Claims normally takes between 7-15 days after submission of all relevant claims documents.


Can I track my claim status online?

Many insurance company including Tata AIG are moving to Digital Claims processing, but most Travel insurance claims are still offline and hence you can call Europ Assist or Tata AIG Customer Support team to ascertain the status of your claim.


Can Tata AIG deny settling my Travel Insurance claim?

Yes, Tata AIG can deny settling a claim which does not fall under the Scope of the policy, or is more than the Sum Insured (Limit of Liability), or falls under the Exclusions of the policy. They will send an email to you citing the reason of the Denial/Repudiation of the claim, which you can take up with them if you are not convinced.


What can I do if I am unhappy with denial of my claim?

The IRDAI has instituted a Grievance Mechanism to address Claims Denial / Repudiation. After taking up the matter with the Tata AIG Claims Team, you can then refer the same to the Insurance Ombudsman appointed by the regulator to reviewing such pleas by the insured. If you are still not happy with the judgement of the Ombudsman, you can take Legal Recourse through the Judicial Process and Courts.
