Tata AIG Travel Insurance provides financial protection against unforeseen events that can occur during your international or domestic trips. This includes medical emergencies, trip cancellations or delays, lost baggage, passport issues, and more. It helps you travel with peace of mind, knowing that you're covered against potentially high expenses and inconveniences abroad. Medical expenses are high abroad, so it is strongly recommended to travel with insurance every time.

Tata AIG offers a variety of travel insurance plans to suit different needs:
  1. Single Trip Plans: For a single, specific international trip for a defined duration.
  2. Multi-Trip / Annual Multi-Trip Plans: For frequent travelers taking multiple international trips within a year (each trip typically limited to 30, 45, or 60 days).
  3. Student Travel Plans: Designed for students studying abroad, offering extended coverage for the duration of their course.
  4. Senior Citizen Travel Plans: Specialized plans for older travelers (typically 61 years and above), often with specific terms for pre-existing conditions.

Yes, all Tata AIG Travel Insurance plans include coverage for medical expenses incurred due to COVID-19, including hospitalization and emergency quarantine costs, subject to the specific policy's terms and conditions. It's always recommended to confirm this detail when selecting your plan.

Generally, standard Tata AIG travel insurance policies do not cover routine treatment or exacerbation of pre-existing medical conditions. However, some specialized plans, particularly Senior Citizen plans, may offer limited coverage for the "acute onset of a pre-existing condition." This typically applies to sudden, unexpected, and life-threatening flare-ups requiring immediate medical attention, often with specific sub-limits and look-back periods. Always review the policy wording carefully for specific details.

Tata AIG offers plans for a wide range of ages. While standard plans might cover up to 70 years, they have dedicated Senior Citizen plans that can cover travelers up to 90 or even 99 years, depending on the specific product variant. The eligibility and terms will vary for different age bands.

  • Deductible: This is a fixed amount that you, the insured, must pay out-of-pocket for a covered claim before Tata AIG begins to pay.
  • Sub-limits: These are specific caps within your overall policy maximum for certain benefits or medical procedures (e.g., a daily limit for hospital room rent, a maximum for a particular type of surgery, or a specific limit for pre-existing conditions). Plans with "No Sub-limits" (apart from the overall policy maximum) offer more comprehensive coverage and are generally preferred, especially for high-cost destinations like the USA.

In case of a medical emergency or other covered event, you should immediately contact Tata AIG's 24/7 global assistance helpline (numbers provided in your policy document). They will guide you through the process, which may include cashless hospitalization at network hospitals or instructions for reimbursement claims. Always keep all relevant documents like medical reports, bills, receipts, police reports (for theft), etc.

Yes, most Tata AIG single-trip travel insurance policies can be extended, provided the request is made before the original policy expires and certain conditions are met (e.g., no prior claims on the policy, maximum allowed duration not exceeded). Extensions are generally treated as new policies for the extended period.

Upon successful purchase, you will immediately receive your policy document (including the Certificate of Insurance, policy schedule, and detailed terms & conditions) via email. This document serves as your proof of insurance and is often required for visa applications.

Common exclusions typically include:
  • Self-inflicted injuries or illness due to substance abuse.
  • Treatment for pre-existing conditions (unless specifically covered under an "acute onset on account of a declared Pre Existing medical condition" clause).
  • Cosmetic surgery or elective treatments.
  • Participation in hazardous sports or activities not explicitly covered or opted for.
  • Losses due to war, civil unrest, or nuclear events.

In such cases, it is prudent to send the preauthorization request to AIG IS/ISOS at least 72 hours before your planned admission. This will ensure a hassle-free admission procedure for you at the hospital.

Emergency Hospitalization: This happens typically in case of emergencies such as a road traffic accident. There is no planning involved in the hospitalization. In such situations, the Authentication Certificate can be shown at the hospital to avail cashless admission facility. The preauthorization/claim intimation request can be sent to AIG IS/ISOS within four hours after admission.
